The City Of Ember

The City of Ember is a dark, poor city. Kids get jobs at 12 years old! A girl named Lina gets the job of a pipe works worker. A boy named Doon got the job Messenger. They traded jobs and now Lina has the job of a Messenger and Doon is a pipe works Worker. They embark on their journey as a messenger and pipe works worker.

This book helps my class with our inferencing and predicting skills. We use the clues in the book to predict what happens in the future and we also inference how the characters feel at times in the story. We predict what will happen in the next chapter.

I found this helpful for my narrative writing because I learnt a lot of facts about tsunamis. My next step is to use more interesting words to replace boring words.

Pepeha Art

This is my Pepeha art. First we drew a draft in our sketch books, then we drew it out on a  long piece of paper, then we traced it with vivid, next we coloured it in crayon. We needed to blend colours together. After we dyed the work.

My Special Place Writing

Reflection:

I was learning to use my senses to add detail to my writing so that I can make my writing more interesting for my reader. I found this work easy because I've done interesting writing before. What helped me with being successful with this learning was seeing an example and also doing a plan, because I knew by seeing an example, I had yo make my writing interesting. My next step is to use this skill in my other writing.

Show Don't Tell

Reflection
I was learning how to write about my feelings without saying it directly.  One thing that worked well for me was using the planning sheet and remembering what had happened.  One thing I could do better next time is use more interesting words.  Overall I think this piece of work was challenging.

Reflection
I was learning to understand the characters impact on the story. I felt curious about this learning. The thing that helped me most was was comparing characters because I wrote down lots about Leslie. My next step would be to use there same ideas when I read other books.
